.NET Developer Days 2025: Feedback from Our Team

SaM Solutions at .NET Developer Days 2025

Earlier this month, developers from SaM Solutions attended .NET Developer Days 2025 in Warsaw — one of the most prominent .NET-focused conferences in Europe. The event brought together software engineers, architects, and tech leaders from across the industry to explore the future of .NET development, architecture, cloud integration, and more.

After returning from the event, our engineers shared their impressions — what resonated most, what surprised them, and what ideas they’re excited to bring back to their projects.

Dzmitry Verasau

Chief .NET Technologist

There was a strong focus on building complex microservice systems and the challenges of communication between them, especially around security topics. One talk that stood out was Wiliab Brander’s session on Zero-Trust Messaging.

Messaging brokers were the second most mentioned topic after AI, although AI was rarely the main focus of any session. It feels like AI has become more of a tool, something used occasionally, rather than a key player. For example, ML.NET was mentioned more as a kind of ‘conservative AI’ solution, not an LLM.

Johan Smarius presented an interesting take on more flexible and easier to deploy, yet modular architecture.

There was also a good presentation about new Azure capabilities for troubleshooting using AI agents (Azure SRE Agent in Preview).

Overall, the conference offered a broad overview of current challenges in development and how to approach them.

Vadim Birkos

Senior Full-Stack .NET Engineer

Oliver Sturm’s session introduced functional programming ideas like strict pattern matching, monads, and ways to bring a bit of F# spirit into C#. Even after eight years in .NET I was surprised by what’s possible. Afterward, we had a great conversation on how to gradually introduce these approaches into teams that mostly follow traditional development styles.

Johan Smarius delivered two excellent sessions. The first one focused on the ongoing microservices trend and how many teams adopt it even when it’s unnecessary. He demonstrated how to convert microservice or Onion-based projects into modular monoliths and emphasized a gradual, domain-by-domain transition, which can save months of work and keep architecture clean. His second session covered using Azure Functions with Cosmos DB. He shared his real-world experience, including both the strengths and the limitations of this stack.

Jiří Činčura also delivered a fantastic talk on optimizing EF Core update operations, including batching, performance tuning, and solving edge-case scenarios. There were just three slides but a lot of logs, benchmarks, and hands-on code examples. Exactly the kind of content developers really value.

Siarhei Khmaruk

Senior Software Engineer

I appreciated a few speakers who managed to take well-known subjects and present them with real examples and from new perspectives. These insights sparked fresh ideas on how to apply certain approaches to our current projects. It was also useful to attend sessions on topics I’m not very familiar with.

Aliaksandr Markau

Lead Developer

Some of the talks were genuinely useful. For example, one session on data security in service bus communication was particularly valuable, full of practical advice ready to apply at work. I also enjoyed the session on .NET MAUI, which gave me a new understanding of cross-platform development possibilities in .NET.
