Where standard backoffice Excel import/export creates friction
| Standard SAP Commerce Cloud limitation | SaM Solutions’ module improvement |
|---|---|
| Standard exports often require users to work within predefined structures and repeatedly adjust files to match internal business templates. | DataBridge supports configurable workbook templates for specific categories, product structures, data sets, and business processes. Existing customer Excel templates can also be reflected in the configuration. |
| Media handling often requires separate steps, such as ZIP-based uploads, image configuration, file-path management, or alternative technical flows. | DataBridge lets users manage media directly within the workbook through image links, reducing the need for separate ZIP handling or manual file matching. |
| A single invalid product row can interrupt or complicate the import process and require manual analysis. | DataBridge processes imports at the product level: valid products continue to be imported, while failed products are identified in the result view and logs. |
| Column setup is limited in standard business workflows, especially when teams need category-specific attributes, related data, or customer-specific file structures in one workbook. | DataBridge allows reusable column configurations within the selected TargetType, helping teams build structured workbooks with the fields they actually need. |
| Warehouse and stock data often require additional configuration or separate handling when teams need a clear per-warehouse view inside business-ready Excel files. | DataBridge can export and import stock data across multiple warehouses, including product references and warehouse balances in structured workbook sheets. |
| Catalog synchronization often requires manual follow-up actions after import. | Catalogs can be synchronized automatically after import, reducing manual work and helping teams keep product data up to date faster. |
| Configuration depends heavily on technical setup, redeployment, builds, and IT tickets. | No-code configuration allows administrators to manage workbook, language, page, TargetType, and column settings. Changes are applied immediately without redeployments, builds, or IT tickets. |
How the DataBridge workbook configuration works
DataBridge is configured around reusable workbook structures. Instead of selecting attributes manually for every export or preparing separate files for related data, administrators define how each workbook, page, language, catalog version, TargetType, and column should behave. Business users then work with ready-made Excel files aligned with their actual catalog process, as seen in the table.
Example: a dedicated Fujifilm workbook inside the Staged catalog version, with only the attributes relevant to that category.
Product overview, prices, stocks, warehouses, image gallery, localized attributes, and other related data can each have their own sheet.
A workbook page can target Product, Price, Stock, or other SAP Commerce types, instead of being limited to product fields only.
Base columns are created once and reused across multiple workbook pages and configurations.
Administrators can enable or disable specific workbook configurations, making it easier to manage templates for different catalogs, categories, teams, or business scenarios.
Languages are configured directly in the workbook configuration, so each template includes only the localized fields relevant to the selected catalog, market, or business process.
Catalog Version does not need to be repeated in every import row. It can be configured at the workbook page level, reducing file complexity and avoiding redundant data entry.
Prices and stock levels can be updated or created during import, including scenarios with new products or new warehouse stock levels.
The system shows successful imports, identifies failed products, stores details in logs, and continues processing valid rows.

Built to complement the SAP Commerce Cloud ecosystem
SaM Solutions’ Import/Export Module functions as an important SAP Commerce Cloud add-on that works with standard SAP® mechanisms and the Hybris type system. It doesn’t require core customization, does not replace SAP’s standard logic, and can be managed through configuration rather than hard-coded changes.
Business benefits
Teams can prepare and import products, prices, images, localized content, and stock data faster using predefined workbook structures.
Preconfigured templates remove repeated field selection, manual column rebuilding, and recurring file preparation.
Product-level error handling allows valid rows to continue processing even when individual products contain incorrect data.
Administrators can manage workbook configurations, languages, pages, TargetTypes, and columns without redeployment or one-off scripts.
Repeatable workbook configurations support daily updates, seasonal campaigns, large category imports, and multi-warehouse stock maintenance.
Users work in familiar Excel structures that match existing catalog, pricing, localization, and inventory processes.
