Developing an End-to-End Desktop Platform for Physiotherapy Practice Management

azh GmbH set out to develop Therapy-in-Motion (TiM), a comprehensive desktop application for digital end-to-end management of physiotherapy practices. The platform was designed to support the entire clinical workflow, from patient data and diagnosis history to treatment scheduling, prescription management, and billing, while remaining intuitive for healthcare professionals.

Midway through development, the project encountered technical challenges that delayed delivery and threatened the planned market launch.

The key challenges included:

• Completing a technically complex healthcare software product under aggressive delivery deadlines.
• Redesigning the existing application architecture to improve scalability, maintainability, and long-term product evolution.
• Finalizing functional, usability, and technical requirements while development was already in progress.

Following an assessment of the existing solution, the team created a 14-month delivery roadmap covering requirements refinement, architecture redesign, implementation, testing, and quality assurance.

Architecture modernization

The first stage focused on stabilizing the technical foundation of the product and reducing future maintenance efforts.

Development process optimization

As this was azh’s first nearshore software development project, SaM Solutions established efficient engineering processes from the ground up.
